Reporting Year: 2025
Baseline Year: 2024 (restated)
1. Commitment to Achieving Net Zero.
AgaMatrix Europe Ltd. is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045, in line with NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap milestones. This Carbon Reduction Plan establishes a robust baseline for 2025 and outlines the key actions that will drive emissions reductions in alignment with UK Government PPN 06/21 requirements.
2. Baseline Restatement – 2024 Inventory
During preparation of the 2025 inventory, a methodological review identified that the 2024 downstream transportation calculation included only Well-to-Tank (WTT) emissions, excluding Tank-to-Wheel (TTW) emissions. A revised proxy was also applied to employee commuting. The 2024 baseline has therefore been restated from 1,043.81 tCO₂e to 1,753.13
Baseline Emissions Footprint (2024)
Category | Original 2024 (tCO₂e) | Restated 2024 (tCO₂e) |
Scope 1 | 2.04 | 2.04 |
Scope 2 | 0.00 | 0.00 |
Scope 3 | 1,041.77 | 1,751.09 |
Total | 1,043.81 | 1,753.13 |
3. Current Emissions Footprint (2025)
Total reported emissions for 2025 are 939.17 tCO₂e, representing a 46.4% reduction from the restated 2024 baseline. Scope 3 value chain emissions account for over 99% of total emissions, primarily arising from transportation and logistics.
Emission Scope | Emissions (tCO₂e) | Description |
Scope 1 | 2.40 | Direct emissions from vehicles, boilers, refrigerants |
Scope 2 | 0.00 | Indirect electricity emissions (100% renewable electricity via certified green tariff) |
Scope 3 | 936.77 | Indirect value chain emissions (downstream transport, upstream transport, business travel, waste, commuting) |
Total | 939.17 |
Emissions by Source (2025)
Emissions Source | Emissions (tCO₂e) | Share |
Downstream transport (Cat. 9) | 717.93 | 76% |
4. Year-on-Year Performance
Year | Total Emissions (tCO₂e) |
2024 (restated) | 1,753.13 |
2025 | 939.17 |
Change | –46.4% |
AgaMatrix achieved a 46.4% reduction in total emissions – a significant step towards the <90 tCO₂e/£m target by 2026.
5. Emissions Reduction Targets
AgaMatrix Europe Ltd. intends to reduce its carbon intensity (tCO₂e/£m) by at least 10% by 2026 and achieve Net Zero by 2045.
• Carbon intensity target: <90 tCO₂e/£m turnover by 2026
• Full Scope 3 category coverage (including Category 1) by 2026
• Net Zero by 2045, in alignment with the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap
6. Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
The following measures are already in place:
• Procurement of 100% renewable electricity, verified through REGOs (zero Scope 2 emissions maintained in 2025)
• Establishment of an annual GHG inventory and carbon intensity KPI
• Significant reduction in upstream delivery mileage through improved logistics planning and shipment consolidation (-72% upstream transport emissions year-on-year)
• Business travel reduction through promotion of remote working and virtual meetings (-81.7% business travel emissions year-on-year)
• Waste diversion initiatives and partnership discussions with Approved Authorised Treatment Facilities (AATFs)
• Downstream delivery mileage reduction from approximately 674,850 miles (2024) to 486,838 miles (2025), achieving a 24.3% reduction in downstream transport emissions
7. Planned Carbon Reduction Initiatives (2025–2028)
Focus Area | Action | Metric / KPI |
Downstream Logistics | Route optimisation, delivery consolidation, collaboration with lower-emission logistics providers, exploration of alternative transport modes | Delivery miles per tCO₂e |
Upstream Shipping | Reduced use of air freight, shipment consolidation, collaboration with lower-emission freight providers | Annual tCO₂e from shipments |
Product Development | Extend product expiries to allow longer shipping windows and lower-emission freight modes | Reduced tCO₂e from air freight |
Staff Travel | Maintain virtual meeting culture; travel policy review; prioritise rail over air travel | Business miles per employee |
Employee Commuting | Explore carpooling initiatives, cycle-to-work scheme, public transport incentives, flexible and hybrid working | Commuting miles per employee |
Waste Management | Circular waste management policies, improved recycling and segregation, partnerships with reuse organisations and AATFs | Waste tCO₂e per year |
Scope 3 Expansion | Prioritise inclusion of Category 1 (Purchased Goods & Services) in 2026 reporting cycle; engage suppliers on emissions data collection | Full Scope 3 inventory coverage |
Carbon Intensity KPI | Track tCO₂e/£m Turnover annually and report against NHS Evergreen milestones | Target: <90 tCO₂e/£m by 2026 |
8. Alignment with NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap
Requirement | Status |
Scope 1 & 2 reporting | Completed |
Initial Scope 3 reporting | Completed |
